| The Thrifty Ice
Cream Story Thrifty's was a
chain of drug stores in California that opened in 1929. Back
then, drug stores served food, soda and yes, ice cream. In 1940,
they built their first ice cream factory, just so they could supply
their drug stores. Thrifty's quickly became famous for
that ice cream, and its innovative flavors.
People who grew up with Thrifty's often
are surprised that the ice cream is still available. That's
because Rite Aid bought out and renamed
all the Thrifty Drug Stores in 1998. The stores may
have been renamed, but the ice cream wasn't.
Fountain Hills Water & Ice is proud to
serve Thrifty Ice Cream. Stop by for a cone, a hand packed
pint or quart, or even a pre-packed half gallon. Those of you
that grew up with Thrifty Ice Cream will want to remember the
great taste of that ice cream made with all natural ingredients, and
share it with your children. And for those of you who have
never heard or tasted Thrifty, it's time to discover it for
yourself. |
